Glen Ellen Winery
Glen Ellen, California
This project is adaptive reuse of a historic Sonoma County building, a portion of which was originally developed 1880 by General Mariano Vallejo as a sawmill. The architect's task was to create a casual, comfortable and functional visitors center from the historic collection of wood and concrete building.
The tasting room features simple yet elegantly detailed wood walls, fixtures, and tasking bar. The history center, a favorite Sonoma County visitor's destination, was created by linking five enormous vats, originally designed to hold wine, to forma rhythm of sandblasted concrete exhibit spaces.
