Animal Rescue Foundation

Walnut Creek, California

Tony La Russa's Animal Rescue Foundation Adoption and Education Center is a 37,700 SF 'interactive' educational facility designed to promote a positive interaction between people and animals. The project is designed as a campus of three buildings in a garden setting. The facilities include 1) the Core Building which housed the Spay/Neuter Clinic, Animal Holding Adoption Center, Multi-Use Room, Learning Center and support services; 2) the Pavilion, funded by Ralton Purina, which will be used as a Canine Training facility/multi-purpose space; and 3) the Storage Building. The Core Building features a 4,500 SF exhibition area around which are organized adoptable animals, classrooms, video displays and animal exhibits. This exhibition area is conceived as a 'gathering' space capable of supporting a myriad of programs ranging from large classes to fundraisers. The exterior landscape areas feature a public donor park, courtyards, pedestrian paths and dog exercise yards.
